SYNOPSIS

Our digital story “TattooWhyNot” is social media project. It aims to reveal the different attitudes of Chinese and Westerners to tattoos and the change that is taking place in this attitude. It contains the interviewing about some people who have tattoo and a Chinese tattooist in Melbourne (video clips). And it is done through the use of social media strategies.

Our video is mainly divided into two parts. Part 1 could be the attitude interview with tattooed people. In Part 2, we focused on interviewing the Chinese tattoo artist in Melbourne.

The main purpose of this short video is to change some Chinese people's prejudices, stubborn wrong ideas with tattoos and some tattooed people. And also it will encourage those who want to give themselves a tattoo and let them know that tattooing is not a wrong thing.

It also allows them to share their tattoo story with each other.

In Melbourne, it is not difficult to find many people with tattoos on their bodies. There are also many famous tattoo shops and tattooists in Melbourne. As we all know, there are also a huge number of Chinese in Melbourne including Chinese students. In addition, it is not hard for us to discover that many Chinese and Chinese students will also go tattooing. Therefore,  we chose to interview some tattooed people to tell them their tattooing story or their attitude towards tattooing. We focused on interviewing a Chinese tattooist in Melbourne who owns a tattoo studio so that we can have a deeper understanding of the issue from a perspective that is closely related to the tattoo.
