Q & A:
Q: When was the first time heard about the tattoo?
A: I met the first tattoo artist during my college life in Russia 12 years ago.
Q: What was the situation at that time?
A: Because of one guy I met in Russia who had tattoos, I thought that was very cool. But when I came back to China and asked about tattoo 12 years ago, I was told that tattoo means prisoners and bad people. And I never imagined I was gonna be the owner of tattoo shops at that time.
Q: What was your family reaction knowing you had a tattoo?
A: My dad at first just tried to kill me when I came back home and showed them my tattoo. But then he came to Melbourne and realized a tattoo is a culture here, plus I have my own business tattoo, so he was all right about the tattoo. My mother was happy because I have tattoo business.
Q: How did you start your tattoo business?
A: At first I came to Australia, I needed to work and I did some market research and found out tattooing here might be a good chance. And I had a friend in Russia who was a tattoo artist, I was wondering if I can learn some about the tattoo and run a tattoo shop in Melbourne.
Q: Are there any interesting tattoos that you made?
A: An Aussie guy got a Mi and Tang in Chinese on both his arms because he liked rice and sugar.
Q: What is the difference between Western people and Asian people about the tattoo?
A: Western people are very emotional without much more rethink of tattooing. On the contrary, Asian people might think and rethink all the time when they are about to make a tattoo.
Q: What do you think is the most important for you to have a tattoo business?
A: I like it so I do it.
